Follow Up
Mortality was ascertained during 16 years of follow-up. Information concerning subjects who died or moved away from Takayama City between the baseline (1 September 1992) and 1 October 2008, was obtained from residential registers or family registers. Causes of death were identified from death certificates provided by the Legal Affairs Bureau. In 2002 we conducted a mailed questionnaire survey.
