* To ascertain the prevalence and incidence of dementia and its most frequent type, Alzheimer disease;
* To identify risk factors for dementia and their association with other chronic non-communicable diseases in this age group (cerebrovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension);
* To do an in-depth study of their risk and genetic markers, and their impact in terms of needs for care, disability and caregiver psychological morbidity.
